Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, has eulogised former Deputy Governor, late Chief Patrick Adaba, as a foundational figure whose leadership and sacrifices played a pivotal role in shaping the state’s early years and development.

He urged the Adaba family to embrace unity and peace, following the example of the late former Deputy Governor, during the burial mass at Christ the King Catholic Church in Okene.

He also highlighted Adaba’s instrumental role in laying the administrative and political foundations of Kogi State.

“Late Pa Patrick Adaba is among those that laid the foundation of our dear state, and that foundation was laid for greatness. Today, we have witnessed that greatness and we thank God for his life”, he said.

The Governor noted that Chief Adaba’s contributions to Kogi State predated the 1999 return to democracy, having served as Secretary to the State Government and later as Deputy Governor alongside Prince Abubakar Audu, the state’s first elected Governor.

“Chief Patrick Adaba was a steady hand during Kogi’s formative years, offering wisdom and calm judgment during challenging times, his legacy of integrity and public service remains deeply etched in our state’s history. Even in retirement, he continued to be a unifying figure and a moral compass for many”.

Governor Ododo further described the late Chief Adaba as a diligent public servant and a role model for many in Kogi State.

He used the occasion to extend his condolences to the Adaba family, the Ebira community, and the people of Kogi, praying for the departed’s eternal rest and strength for his family during this difficult time.
