*Hailed as a pillar of integrity and reform

From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Government and civil service community, came together on Thursday to honour the late former Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole, with glowing tributes at a Wake Keep ceremony held at the State Banquet Hall in Ilorin.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, represented by his Deputy, Elder Kayode Alabi, described the late Oluwole as a rare gem whose legacy of diligence, professionalism, and integrity will forever be remembered within the public service.

“As we pay our last respects to a remarkable and dedicated public servant, I want to say that her passing is not just a loss to her family, but to the entire Kwara State and everyone who had the privilege of working with her,” the Governor said.

He noted that Mrs. Oluwole, was known for her wisdom, principled approach, and deep sense of responsibility, which set a standard for others in the civil service.

“Her impact on the civil service remains indelible, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations. I hope her family finds comfort in the knowledge that she was deeply respected and her contributions will never be forgotten,” he added.

In his tribute, former Head of Service, Alhaji Salman Ibrahim, recalled Oluwole’s commitment and loyalty during her years of active service. “She was a go-getter, always transparent, principled, and humble. Her reforms during her seven-year tenure were profound and written in letters of gold,” he said.

Prince Ayo Fagbemi, Chairman of the Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries, described the deceased as a beacon of justice and fair leadership. “Her exit is painful, especially coming shortly after her retirement, a time we believed would be filled with rest and reflection. She led with the fear of God and championed significant reforms in the civil service,” he remarked.

Oluwole’s former classmates from Saint Clare’s Anglican Girls’ Grammar School, Offa, including Adefunke Oyinloye and Opeyemi Oladipupo, spoke fondly of her brilliance and consistent character since childhood.

Speaking on behalf of the family, Barrister Rotimi Bello appreciated Governor AbdulRazaq and others for their support and goodwill, noting that Oluwole’s dedication to family and public service would be greatly missed.

The solemn event served as a moment of reflection for many, highlighting the enduring impact of a woman who rose through the ranks with grace, and left behind a legacy of service built on values that continue to shape the Kwara State civil service.
