From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Chief Imam of Ajiyobiojo Central Mosque, Olunlade, Ilorin, Alhaji Saheed Ajiyobiojo, has called on Muslim men to support their wives with household chores during the Ramadan fast.

Speaking in Ilorin the cleric emphasised the need for husbands to actively assist their wives instead of leaving all domestic responsibilities to them.

He noted that many men take a backseat during Ramadan, failing to offer the moral and physical support their wives need to manage the fasting period.

Ajiyobiojo highlighted that Ramadan is a particularly demanding period for women, as they wake early to prepare meals while also managing other family responsibilities.

He urged men to be more considerate by helping out in practical ways, such as looking after the children and easing their wives’ workload.

The cleric also encouraged men to appreciate and commend their wives’ efforts during fasting rather than being critical.

He cautioned, however, that women should not misuse the support offered by their husbands by taking it for granted.

Ajiyobiojo also urged Muslims to take fasting seriously, reminding them that Ramadan is a time to seek Allah’s grace and favor.

He called on Islamic clerics to lead by example, stressing that they should not only preach but also practice the teachings of Islam.
