Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has inaugurated the Osi campus of Kwara State University (KWASU), marking a significant milestone in his administration’s efforts to ensure no project is abandoned.

The commissioning event, held amidst applause from stakeholders and traditional leaders, underscores the government’s commitment to fostering development in the southern axis of the state.

“This is more than just a project commissioning. The completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses bears testament to my pledge that Kwara will not be a mortuary of abandoned projects. With this, we reaffirm that what matters to us is the progress of our state, not the political history of any project,” the governor said.

He added that the Osi Campus, home to the Faculty of Environmental Sciences, represents a beacon of hope for future generations.

“This campus reflects our commitment to sustainable development, academic excellence, and social inclusion,” AbdulRazaq noted.

The governor highlighted the broader economic and educational benefits of the project, noting its potential to create opportunities for the youth, foster innovation, and enhance regional development.

The event was attended by senior government officials, academics, traditional rulers, and community leaders, who lauded the governor’s efforts in delivering impactful projects across the state.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mary Arinde, praised the completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba campuses as a bold step to bring education closer to the people and empower the youth with skills for a brighter future.

KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Luqman Jimoh, commended the governor for his unwavering support for higher education.

“Your commitment to education has been truly remarkable. The new Osi Campus will foster innovation, research, and academic excellence,” he said.

The Pro-Chancellor of KWASU, Prof. Abdulganiyu Ambali, pledged that the facilities would be efficiently utilized, while traditional leaders, including the Olosi of Osi, Oba Saliu Adasofegbe, described Governor AbdulRazaq as a “man of his words.”

“The Osi Campus, equipped with state-of-the-art studios, laboratories, and lecture halls, has already received approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC), for new programs, including Geography and Remote Sensing, Urban and Regional Planning, and Estate Management. Plans are underway to introduce Architecture and Quantity Surveying in the next academic session.” He said

In his remarks, Oba Adasofegbe highlighted other impactful projects in the Osi community, including the asphalt overlay of township roads, provision of transformers, ICT centers for schools, and the Osi-Obbo-Aiyegunle road construction.

The governor reiterated his administration’s resolve to expand development across all sectors. “Osi Campus is not just a physical structure but a symbol of inclusion, economic expansion, and the well-being of our people,” he concluded.

The event reflects Governor AbdulRazaq’s strategic approach to governance, ensuring equitable development and access to quality education for all regions of Kwara State.
