Kogi Governor inaugurates electricity project in Bassa community

The Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to the rapid development of the state, emphasizing a holistic approach to infrastructural progress.

This commitment was showcased during the inauguration of the Nyamkpo Community Electrification Project in Bassa Local Government Area, where he extolled the efforts of Chief Dr. Nda Usman Muhammed, the leader of the community, praising him for his dedicated service toward enhancing the welfare of the people.

Represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, Governor Ododo articulated the transformative power of electricity as a vital catalyst for economic prosperity.

He underscored the critical role that reliable power supply plays in the thriving of private enterprises, which often struggle with the costs associated with diesel and petrol generators.

The Governor reassured residents that the state is making concerted efforts to address the electricity deficiencies plaguing Kogi East, ensuring that communities can enjoy the benefits of modern infrastructure.

Highlighting the state’s ongoing commitment to infrastructural advancements, Governor Ododo revealed a series of significant projects that are currently underway.

These include the rehabilitation of the Dekina-Bassa Road, the Idah to Ibaji Road, and the construction of the Shintaku-Lokoja bridge, which will enhance connectivity to the state capital.

The Governor noted that these initiatives symbolize just the beginning of a broader vision for state development focused on elevating living standards and fostering economic growth.

Further reinforcing his administration’s commitment, Governor Ododo pointed out improvements in salary and pension payments, alongside intensified efforts to combat insecurity in the region.

He expressed optimism that these measures would lay a solid foundation for even greater advancements in the future.

In his remarks, Chief Nda Muhammed, a driving force behind the Nyamkpo Community Development Union, acknowledged the project’s significance in addressing local electricity challenges.

He expressed heartfelt gratitude for the continuous support extended by the state government towards the development of Bassa Local Government.

Chief Muhammed, reiterated the community’s dedication to supporting Governor Ododo’s administration, a partnership he sees as essential for continued growth and progress.

Before the official inauguration, Deputy Governor Joel Salifu paid a courtesy visit to the palace of HRH, Rtd. General Abuh Alih, the ETSU of Bassa Nge Kingdom, seeking royal blessings for the project. His visit underscores the administration’s respect for traditional institutions and their pivotal role in community engagement.

Accompanying the Deputy Governor were dignitaries from various sectors, including members of the State House of Assembly from Kogi East, advisers to the Governor, Senior Special Assistants, Council Chairmen, and local government officials. Their presence at the event highlighted the collaborative spirit necessary for achieving the state’s ambitious development goals.

As Kogi State embarks on this transformative journey, Governor Ododo’s administration remains resolutely dedicated to delivering the dividends of democracy to all residents, with a strong focus on inclusivity and sustainable development for every community, particularly in Bassa Local Government Area.
