Leaders and stakeholders across Kogi Central have held a red-carpet reception in honour of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, and his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s homecoming celebration in Okene was a truly unforgettable experience. The event was made even more special by the presence of his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, which added a touch of nostalgia and continuity to the festivities.

As the two leaders made their way through the streets, they were greeted by a sea of enthusiastic supporters, well-wishers, and locals, all eager to catch a glimpse of their beloved leaders and esteemed sons of the soil.

The atmosphere was electric, with cheers and praises filling the air as the crowd welcomed Governor Ododo and his predicesor Yahaya Bello. The excitement was palpable, and it was clear that this was a momentous occasion for the people of Okene. The homecoming celebration was a testament to the people’s love and appreciation for their leaders, and it marked a new chapter in the state’s history.

As Governor Ododo and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, made their way through Okene, they were met with a spectacular welcome. A massive crowd had gathered, accompanied by vibrant ‘Eku’ masquerades, dancing to the infectious rhythm of local Ebira music. The air was more electrifying, filled with the sweet sounds of traditional music, creating a joyous atmosphere.

Governor Ododo took the opportunity to connect with the people, reassuring them of his dedication to good governance and improved living standards.

He outlined his key areas of focus, including upgrading road infrastructure, enhancing healthcare services, creating job opportunities, improving education, boosting agriculture, promoting youth inclusiveness, providing affordable housing, ensuring security, and guaranteeing food security.

This interaction not only showcased Governor Ododo’s commitment to the people’s welfare but also demonstrated his willingness to listen and engage with the community.

As the crowd welcomed the dynamic duo, the people acknowledged Yahaya Bello’s contributions to the state’s growth, development and most particularly his transformative efforts in shaping the state’s political landscape during his tenure as Governor.

Governor Ododo and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello, kicked off their visit to Okene with a courtesy call on the revered Ohinoyi of Ebira land, His Royal Majesty Mohammed Tijani Anaje. During the visit, they praised the monarch for his selfless efforts in promoting security and prosperity throughout Kogi State. This gesture underscores the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and government in driving development and progress.

While speaking at the Ohinoyi’s palace, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his commitment to building upon the foundations laid by his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.

He emphasised the importance of unity across different parts of the state in driving development and pledged to create a safe environment conducive to business growth. He commended Yahaya Bello for his sacrifices, describing him as the pillar of his administration

Governor Ododo also seized the opportunity to express his heartfelt gratitude to Yahaya Bello for his unwavering support, acknowledging the divine guidance and blessings that saw him through the challenges he faced.

Speaking, former Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the massive crowd for the warm reception, promising to continue making the people of the state proud.

He urged the crowd to extend their support to Governor Ododo, whom he affectionately referred to as a “true son of the soil.” Bello emphasised the importance of peace, unity, and cooperation in the state, highlighting that his vision for Kogi’s progress is being realised through Governor Ododo’s administration. By endorsing Ododo, Bello demonstrated his commitment to the state’s continued growth and development.

The Ohinoyi of Ebiraland praised Governor Ododo’s developmental strides, noting that his achievements within 11 months in office have left a lasting impact on the state. He thanked Yahaya Bello for bringing a God-fearing leader like Ododo to consolidate on his achievements, praying for God’s continued protection and guidance.

The homecoming celebration for Governor Ododo and his predicesor Yahaya Bello was a grand affair, attended by numerous top Government officials, and served as a heartfelt tribute to his predecessor, Yahaya Bello. The people of Kogi State expressed their gratitude for Bello’s visionary leadership, which has laid the foundation for Governor Ododo’s administration to build upon and take the state to even greater heights.

As Governor Ododo marks his first New Year in office, the people of Kogi State are filled with hope and optimism for the future. They are hopeful that the Governor’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and accountability translates into tangible progress and development for the state. With Governor Ododo at the helm, Kogi State is poised for a brighter future, one that honors the standards set by his predecessor while forging a new path forward.
