From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Christians in Kwara State joined their counterparts worldwide to celebrate Christmas, commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ.

Worshippers, dressed in colorful attires, flocked to various churches to thank God for the grace to witness the special occasion.

Delivering his Christmas message titled “Joy to the World”, the Bishop of the Diocese of Kwara, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Sunday Adewole, highlighted the significance of Christ’s birth in restoring the broken relationship between God and humanity.

He described the celebration as an opportunity to appreciate God’s goodness and urged Nigerians to remain patient amid the prevailing economic difficulties.

“The birth of Jesus Christ bridged the gap between God and man, Let us celebrate responsibly and avoid entering the new year burdened by debts,” he cautioned.

He also called on government at all levels to intensify efforts to ease the suffering of citizens, while encouraging Nigerians to exercise financial prudence during the festivities.

Representing the state government, Deputy Governor of Kwara State, Mr. Kayode Alabi, assured residents that relief from the economic challenges is in sight.

“The federal government is working tirelessly to improve the economic situation, and the state government is committed to fostering peaceful coexistence and economic development,” he stated.

Mr. Alabi appealed to residents to live harmoniously, regardless of religious or ethnic differences, to promote unity in the state.

In his address, retired Bishop of the Diocese of Kwara, Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Philip Adeyemo, urged Christians to remain steadfast in their faith and committed to doing God’s will.

The celebration in Kwara reflected joy and hope, with messages of unity, patience, and gratitude resonating across the state.
