•CNPP lauds Ododo, appeals for Christmas bonus
Kogi State Government, has described the prompt payment of December salary to civil servants in the state as well deserved as well as aimed at ensuring workers prepare early for the Christmas and New Year holidays.
Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo, said, with this gracious approval by Governor Usman Ododo, civil servants who would want to travel for their holidays could also plan ahead without having to wait for salaries later in the month.
According to him, the payment of December salary on the 14th of December is to enable civil servants plan and enjoy their Christmas and New Year holidays after working so hard throughout the year.
Fanwo, who addressed newsmen on Saturday, said a similar thing was done during the Sallah break to enable Civil Servants celebrate with their loved ones.

“The Kogi State Government has paid the December 2024 salaries today to enable Civil Servants to begin the preparation for their holidays in earnest and to enable them enjoy the yuletide.
“Our civil servants have worked hard over the years and have supported our development policies and projects in no small measures. It is incumbent on us to also make their yuletide an enjoyable one through timely payment of their salaries.
“The early payment is aimed at ensuring the civil servants get their basic needs in good time for the yuletide,” he said.
Fanwo said the Governor would continue to prioritise the welfare of civil servants in the state in his continued commitment to rewarding hardwork and dedication to duties.
It would be recalled that Kogi State was one of the very first states to pay the new minimum wage to the state’s workforce.
In a related development, the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, (CNPP) has commended Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for the prompt payment of salaries to Civil Servants in the State.
The Kogi State Chairman of CNPP Comrade Mohammed Abdullahi, gave the commendation in a statement issued on Saturday in Lokoja.
Comrade Abdullahi described Governor Ododo as a focused, dedicated, and well determined leader who wants the best for the People of Kogi State.
While urging the Governor of the State to sustain his good work since taking over the mantle of leadership in January, Comrade Abdullahi admonished the Governor to use his good office to emulate other States by giving Christmas bonus to workers to meet their needs during this festive season.
According to him, “CNPP wishes to commend Governor Ododo for the prompt payment of salary to Civil Servants, Pensioners in Kogi State. No doubt he is writing his name in gold, we want him to sustain this good work that he is doing for our State. For the first time, workers received their monthly wage before 15th of December.
“This is a welcome development. Like Oliver twist, we want to ask for more. We are appealing to him to pay workers Christmas bonus because this is a long holiday. By doing this, the people of Kogi State will be able to meet their family needs amidst the inflation in the Country”.
Comrade Abdullahi, charged the people of Kogi State to always support policies of Government for the development of the State.
