Kogi Gov unveils initiative to promote good governance

In a groundbreaking move, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has unveiled the Governance Delivery Unit (GDU), a pioneering initiative designed to transform the state’s governance structure.

This bold step underscores Governor Ododo’s unwavering commitment to excellence and resilience in governance.

The GDU’s primary objective is to streamline the state’s governance framework, focusing on key areas such as: Strategic Planning and Prioritization: Aligning resources with immediate needs and long-term vision, Performance Management and Monitoring: Establishing clear metrics for progress assessment, Project Management and Coordination: Seamless execution for meaningful contributions and Problem Solving and Issue Resolution: Confronting challenges head-on.

Others are, Reporting and Accountability: Fostering transparency and accountability, Stakeholder Engagement and Communication : Effective collaboration, Capacity Building and Training: Enhancing skills and competencies, Innovation and Improvement: Embracing change, Data Analysis and Evidence-Based Decision Making: Informed decisions, Resource Mobilization and Allocation: Optimizing resources as well as Policy and Program Evaluation: Continuous evaluation.

The GDU’s establishment is a testament to Governor Ododo’s vision for a better Kogi State. With the support of renowned partners like PWC, the state is poised for unprecedented growth and development.

The stakeholders’ meeting, which was declared opened by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs Folashade Ayoade Arike, marked the launch of the GDU and it brought together top government officials, including the Commissioner for Finance, Auditor-General, Chief Economic Adviser, permanent secretaries, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants.

Coordinator of the Governance Delivery Unit, Amb. Olusiji Aina, praised Governor Ododo’s initiative, saying, “Posterity will indeed remember His Excellency for fostering a governance structure that will resonate through generations to come.”

As the GDU sets out to achieve its ambitious goals, Governor Ododo invites all stakeholders to join hands in building a better future for Kogi State. With the GDU in place, Kogi State is poised to experience unprecedented growth, development, and prosperity.
