Gov Ododo presents N582.4bn 2025 budget to State Assembly

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has presented the N582,404,119,489 Appropriation Bill for 2025 to Kogi State House of Assembly for approval.

The budget proposal was presented to the assembly members at Tuesday’s plenary held at the assembly complex.

The budget Tagged ‘ budget of inclusive development, ’ is the first budget Ododo presented since he took over from his predicessor Alhaji Yahaya Bello on January 27, 2024.

” This total budget outlay of N582,404,119.489 is divided into Recurrent Expenditure of N279,590,215,687 representing 48.01% and Capital Expenditure of N302,813,903,802 representing 51.99%.

“The total budget package for year 2025 is N582,404,119,489 as against N406,321,130,013 approved in the revised budget for year 2024 which is an increase of N176,082,989,476 or 43.34% when compared with the 2024 approved revised budget.

” The proposed 2025 Budget is a fair and realistic representation of our state’s revenue, capabilities, considering both internal’ and external funding sources. Building on previously outlined key indicators, this draft budget surpasses the 2024 budget, based on well-researched assumptions and reality regarding the state revenue cash flow and the current economic reality, both nationally and globally”.

Governor Ododo added that the 2025 budget was designed to boost internally generated revenue, debt repayment, conducive business environment, public private partnership, revenue optimization and project completion.

Earlier, the Speaker of the house Hon. Umar Aliyu Yusuf argued that the budget presentation underscores the vital partnership between the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government.

“As representatives of the people, it is our sacred duty to scrutinize the budget proposals to ensure they reflect the financial plan, vision, priorities and commitment of the State Government in addressing the welfare, needs and aspirations of the citizens of Kogi State through inclusive development, economic growth, social security and justice.

” This process symbolizes our shared commitment to advancing the progress of our dear State through effective governance”.

He admonished his Colleagues to approach the significant task with sense of duty and purpose, adding that the lawmakers will work together to ensure that the policies and programmes reflected in the 2025 budget contribute meaningfully to the progress and prosperity of Kogi State.
