On his part, Hon Jones applauded Kogi State Governor Alhaji Usman Ododo, for donating books to the state library.

He then used the forum to appeal to privileged individuals and groups to emulate the gesture by donating more books to the establishment.

In her remark, the Director of Library, Mrs. Theresa Akpama, while receiving the books unbehalf of the Commissioner for Education, appreciated the state governor for the gesture describing it as a milestone in the administration’s quest to improve library service.

Speaking with The Graphic, Mrs Akpama, expressed joy over the donation while praising the governor for the laudable act tailored towards enhancing library service in the state.

She further stated that the last time someone donated a book to the Kogi State library was in 1999 and for the governor to have embarked on such a feat was worth celebrating.

She also appealed on Governor Ododo to as a matter of urgency, accord priority attention to the library as it is in a dilapidated state.

According to her, the state library needs a facelift as well as working tools like office chairs, tables, shelves and many more equipments that will make the office facility and reading condition habitable.

She reiterated that they were working under a leaking roof amongst other inconveniences.
