Students from various tertiary institutions across Kogi State under the aegis of National Association of Nigerian Students, (NANS), have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his interventions in the state’s education sector.

The group specifically praised his administration for its transformative policies, initiatives and projects aimed at enhancing education and student welfare.

The declaration was made by the Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Gomina Kabiru, during a press conference held Lokoja,Kogi State.

Comrade Kabiru in his address, commended Governor Ododo’s significant contributions to the development of the state’s educational sector.

He emphasized that the governor’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of students has helped create a conducive environment for academic, social, and professional growth.

Kabiru cited several key achievements of the administration to include; increase in bursary allowances and digitisation of payment systems for students.

“This initiative has reduced the financial burden on students and their families, allowing us to focus more on our studies,” he said.

He also highlighted notable improvements in infrastructure across tertiary institutions in Kogi State to include; new classroom blocks, laboratories, libraries, and hostels, all of which he further added have greatly enhanced the academic environment for students.

On security, Kabiru praised the administration for ensuring enhanced campus security, citing the installation of security equipments and increased personnel presence, as some of the measures that have made campuses safer for students.

He further acknowledged the administration’s support for technological advancements through ICT integration and digital learning platforms, which he added has helped in modernising education in the state.

In addition to education, Kabiru commended the governor’s youth empowerment and job creation initiatives, which include skills acquisition programs and internships. These efforts, he noted, have equipped students with the tools needed to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society.

The NANS chairman also praised Governor Ododo for promoting student participation in governance and continuing the policy of free education at lower levels, both of which he observed have eased the financial burden on parents and encouraged greater civic engagement among students.

Kabiru then used the forum to call on students across the country to continue supporting Governor Ododo’s administration and reject any act that might cause disharmony among members of the group.

“We proudly stand behind Governor Ododo as he continues to advance our educational institutions and the state as a whole,” he concluded.
