In a bid to enhance quality service delivery and implement Civil Service reforms, Kogi State government has enlisted the expertise of the Public Service Institute of Nigeria (PSIN) to conduct a crucial training and examination exercise for eligible Directors.

Kogi State Head of Civil Service, Mr. Elijah Evinemi, expressed gratitude to Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his support of the initiative.

Mr. Evinemi disclosed that sixty senior Directors from the Kogi State Civil Service have been shortlisted to sit for examinations for vacant positions, adding that the candidates include the five most senior Directors from each of the twelve Local Government Areas with vacancies, ensuring a transparent and fair selection process.

He praised the PSIN’s management for its well-structured training programme, noting the Institute’s previous successes in Kogi State led to the appointment of numerous Permanent Secretaries.

He encouraged participants to take full advantage of the training programme to excel in their examinations, emphasising the importance of punctuality, focus and attentiveness.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Barrister Muhammed Tanko Musa, highlighted the crucial role of permanent secretaries as the “engine room” of government, responsible for formulating effective policies.

Tanko acknowledged the significant contributions of the directors and expressed confidence in their capabilities.

Dr. Tunde Adeniran, Director of Studies and Learning at PSIN, echoed these sentiments, celebrating the positive outcomes of the institute’s prior training programmes and their impact on the state’s civil service.
