Kogi CJ Inaugurates Sharia Court of Appeal Law Report Committee

The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi, has inaugurated the state Sharia Court of Appeal Law Report Committee.

The four-man Law Report Committee has Hon. Justice N.Y Abdullahi as Chairman, Hon. Justice Musa Ibrahim Ohu as Vice chairman, Hon. Justice Suleiman Bala Muhammad as member, while Hon. Justice Isah Yakubu is to serve as Secretary.

In his remarks, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi appreciated the Grand Khadi, Kogi State Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulkareem Aruwa, has for his vision and efforts at creating a medium for reference for stakeholders in the judicial circle.

While expressing Joy to be part of the achievement, the Chief Judge lauded the Grand Khadi for sustaining the synergy and partnership while urging members of the committee to be dedicated and contribute their quota to the enhancement of the justice system in the country.

In his remarks, the Grand Khadi,Justice Abdulkareem Aruwa, said the goal of the project is to document the court’s Judgments from inception to enhance service delivery among others.

He also observed the need to honour and in a way, immortalize the pioneer and past leaderships and judicial officers of the Court by packaging and preserving their inputs as legacies for the benefit of present generation and posterity.

Meanwhile, the committee’s Terms of Reference include: collecting, collating, selecting and packaging the Court’s Judgments for the publication.

The Law Report shall cover 1991 to 2023 period, and shall be in sequential volumes.
