From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has unveiled plans to provide about 100 operational vehicles for security agencies in the state, with the first batch of 25 Toyota Hilux vehicles delivered to the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the fight against crime.

The governor presented the vehicles to the state police command at Ahmadu Bello House, Ilorin, describing the intervention as part of efforts to sustain recent security gains and improve the operational capacity of security personnel.
AbdulRazaq said other security agencies would also benefit from the initiative, adding that the vehicles would be distributed in phases.

“You know the yeoman’s job the security agencies have been doing to improve the security of the state. We have made serious progress in the recent months. And to sustain the work they have been doing, we have decided to provide mobility vehicles for the police force,” he said.
“Other agencies will also benefit soon. We are doing this in stages. Altogether, we are giving about 100 vehicles. This is the first set of vehicles to be delivered. Others will come soon. We trust they will use them judiciously.”

The governor commended security agencies for their efforts in maintaining peace across the state, describing Kwara as one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria based on independent assessments.
He urged residents to support security operatives by providing timely and useful information that could help prevent criminal activities and protect communities.
“My message to Kwarans is to always tell the security agencies anything they see. Active intelligence gathering is the most important thing to nip things in the bud and make sure they don’t degenerate,” AbdulRazaq added.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Adekimi Ojo, described the donation as another significant intervention by the state government to strengthen policing and address operational challenges.
Ojo noted that the governor had also introduced special allowances for police officers deployed on special duties, saying the support had helped improve their working conditions.
“This particular gesture will assist in bridging some gaps that we currently have, especially in hard-to-reach places. So, we thank the governor for this great job,” the police commissioner said.
He assured the state government and residents that the vehicles would be put to good use, adding that the police would intensify efforts to achieve greater success in tackling crime.
“The security system has improved, but we are going to double our efforts to achieve greater success,” Ojo said.
