KOSIEC issues notice of election for 2026 Kogi LG polls

The Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC), has formally issued the Notice of Election for the 2026 Kogi State Local Government Council Elections, scheduled to hold on Saturday, 17th October 2026.

The Notice, dated 3rd October 2026 and signed by the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Mamman Eri, was issued in exercise of the powers conferred on KOSIEC by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission Law, and other applicable electoral laws.

According to the Notice, the elections will be conducted across all 21 Local Government Areas, 239 Electoral Wards, and 3,508 Polling Units in Kogi State.

The Commission stated that it has made the necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the polls. It called on all political parties, candidates, accredited observers, security agencies, the media, civil society organisations, traditional and religious institutions, community leaders, and other stakeholders to cooperate fully with the Commission.

KOSIEC emphasised the need for all stakeholders to work together to ensure a peaceful, orderly, and credible electoral process before, during, and after the elections.

The Commission also appealed to all citizens and stakeholders across the State to join hands in maintaining peace and ensuring the successful conduct of the elections in all 21 Local Government Areas.

KOSIEC further urged eligible voters and all participants in the electoral process to conduct themselves responsibly and support efforts aimed at delivering a peaceful and credible election.
