Gov Ododo mourns Ex-Governor Ibrahim Idris, declares three-day mourning, State burial

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, describing it as a profound loss to Kogi State and Nigeria.

Governor Ododo who declared a three-day mourning period in honour of the late former governor has also directed that all national and Kogi State flags be flown at half-mast in government offices and public institutions across the state during the period.

The governor, who earlier visited the residence of the late Alhaji Idris to commiserate with the family, said in a condolence letter, signed by Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communications, that Kogi has lost an eminent son who devoted a significant part of his life to the service of the people.

He also announced that the late former governor would be given a State Burial, with the Kogi State Government taking full responsibility for burial arrangements to accord him honour befitting his status.

Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, served as Governor of Kogi State from 2003 to 2011, a period Governor Ododo noted witnessed significant interventions in infrastructure, education, healthcare and other critical sectors.

According to the governor, beyond projects and policies, the late Idris would be remembered as a public servant who committed himself to the responsibilities entrusted to him by the people.

“His years in public office formed an important chapter in the political and developmental journey of Kogi State,” Governor Ododo said, urging the family to draw strength from the enduring memories of his service and the positive impact he made.

On behalf of the government and people of Kogi State, Governor Ododo extended deepest condolences to the Idris family, friends, associates and all who mourn the former governor.

He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus and give the family and the entire state the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
