The kidnapped traditional ruler of Igbesi community in Isin Local Government Area of Kwara State, Oba Moses Oyinloye, has regained freedom after spending five days in the custody of his abductors.
The monarch, known as the Onigbesi of Igbesi, was abducted on August 22, 2026, when armed bandits invaded the community.
The rescue operation was carried out by operatives of the Kwara State Police Command in collaboration with members of a local vigilance group in the Oro axis of the state.
Sources in Igbesi told newsmen that Oba Oyinloye was rescued alongside two other victims, although the state Commissioner of Police, Ojo Adekimi, had earlier clarified that the monarch was the only person abducted during the attack.

Confirming the development, Adekimi said police operatives in Kwara South successfully traced and rescued the monarch from the kidnappers’ hideout.
“Yes, the Onigbesi has been rescued by the policemen from the kidnappers’ hideout. He’s receiving treatment at a hospital in Oro. This is all I can tell you for now,” the commissioner said.
The monarch is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital in Oro, Irepodun Local Government Area, following his rescue.
The development has brought relief to residents of Igbesi and neighbouring communities, who had been anxious about the monarch’s safety since his abduction.
