No fewer than fifty young Nigerians, have been admitted into the newly inaugurated Barefoot Renewable Energy College, established by the Energy Commission of Nigeria, at the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State.

Speaking during the inauguration, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, described Nigeria as a pacesetter in renewable energy development.

Represented by his vice, kashim Shetima, he desclosed that the college, which is first of its kind in Africa, would train technicians, installers, operators, and maintenance personnel in renewable energy technologies.

In his address, Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, described the establishment of the institution as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to equipping young Nigerians with the skills required to thrive in a rapidly evolving global economy.

Also speaking, the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, said the Barefoot Renewable Energy College and the Green Hydrogen Research Demonstration Pilot Plant are flagship projects under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

KHe noted that the projects would drive innovation, industrialisation, job creation, and sustainable national development.
