Olamaboro Local Government Area in Kogi State, has announced an immediate ban on the use of cutlass and other weapons in cattle breeding and herding activities within the council area.
In a statement issued by the office of the Chairman, the council said the decision was taken to promote peace, order, and peaceful coexistence among farmers, herders, and other residents of the LGA.
According to the statement, the ban forms part of ongoing efforts by the Local Government to support security initiatives and reduce incidents of conflict related to open grazing and herding practices.
The chairman in a statement, expressed appreciation to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what he described as his commitment to the effective security of lives and properties across the state.

“We sincerely thank His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his proactive leadership and dedication to ensuring the safety of our dear people in Olamaboro and across Kogi State,” the statement read.
Residents and stakeholders have been urged to comply with the directive and report any violations to the appropriate security agencies for prompt action.
The Local Government reaffirmed its commitment to working with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies to sustain peace in the area.
