Prominent government officials, traditional leaders and associates gathered in Ilorin, to honour retired Permanent Secretary of the Kwara State Ministry of Transportation, Alhaji Kabiru Salahu, at a special thanksgiving prayer marking the end of his public service career.
The prayer session, held at the Alaro Compound in the Ojuekun area of Ilorin, attracted senior government functionaries led by the Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Kwara State Governor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, and the Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Aliyu Lafia Korasabi.
The event served as a tribute to Salahu’s years of service in the Kwara State Civil Service, with colleagues and well-wishers offering prayers for a fulfilling retirement and continued good health.
Among the dignitaries who accompanied the retired permanent secretary were former Non-Executive Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Dr Mohammed Alaya; Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah; Engr. AbdulRahman Giwa; Dr Yunus Baraje; and the Regional Editor of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin.
Directors and senior officials of the Ministry of Transportation also attended the gathering, alongside the Magaji Ogundele, Malam AbdulRaheem Kajola, and other traditional title holders.
Also present were Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Barrister Kehinde Eleja; former Commissioner for Energy, Hon. Taiye Eleja; and Barrister Umar Akanbi.
The thanksgiving prayer was led by the Ajanasi Agba of Ilorin, Alhaji Mujitaba Bature, with the support of several respected Imams and Islamic clerics from Okelele and neighbouring communities, who offered prayers for Allah’s guidance, protection and blessings upon the retired civil servant as he begins a new phase of life.
