From Joseph Adahnu, Yola
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State, has congratulated the newly elected executives of the state chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), and urged them to provide purposeful leadership.
The election was held recently after the swearing-in of the 21 elected local government chairmen in the state.
Dr. Titus Obadiah, Chairman of Mayo-Belwa Local Government Council, emerged as ALGON chairman. Yusuf Mohammed, Chairman of Madagali Local Government Council, was elected vice chairman, while Barrister Ibrahim Jibrin, Chairman of Yola North Local Government Council, emerged as secretary.
Fintiri described their election as well deserved, saying it reflects the trust, confidence, and respect they enjoy among their fellow council chairmen.
He said the new leadership assumes office at a crucial time when visionary leadership and commitment are needed to strengthen grassroots governance and accelerate development across the 21 LGAs.
“I want to use this medium to congratulate you on this well-deserved victory. The confidence your colleagues have placed in you is a call to greater service. Do not betray that trust. Uphold the values of accountability, transparency, teamwork, and selfless service as you work to advance grassroots development,” Fintiri said.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening local government administration and partnering with council leadership to deliver development to communities across Adamawa State.
He wished the new ALGON executives a successful and impactful tenure.
