Beginning from 20th July, 2026, Judges of the High Court of Justice of Kogi state, will be embarking on their annual vacation for the year 2026.
This was contained in an Order issued by the Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Josiah Majebi, pursuant to Order 10 Rule 4(2) of the state’s High Court (Civil Procedure Rules) 2025.
Hon. Justice Hawa Yusuf of the High Court of Justice, has been appointed to serve as the Vacation Judge during the period of the vacation and will be sitting in Lokoja, the state capital, to attend to Criminal matters and Civil Motions emanating throughout the state.
According to the CJ’s Order, such matters or motions must however be “urgent and will only be entertained by the leave of the court” during the period.
The Judges would end their vacation on Friday, 18th Sept, 2026 while normal court sittings resume on Monday, 21st September, 2026.
Meanwhile, litigants and the general public are to take note that all other services rendered by the state’s High Court of Justice would not be adversely affected by the vacation just as all lower courts in the state would continue sitting and rendering their adjudicatory and other services across the state.
