The Federal Government has approved N128.7 billion for the rehabilitation of two key roads in Kogi State’s Kabba corridor, as part of a wider package of 27 road projects valued at over N3.9 trillion across 15 states.
Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, announced the approvals on Tuesday, saying the projects are targeted at improving connectivity, easing trade, and removing critical transportation bottlenecks nationwide.
According to Umahi, N24.7 billion has been earmarked for the Kabba-Ifaki-Ado Ekiti Road, which links Kogi to Ekiti State and serves as a major trade route for farmers and traders.
Another N104 billion was approved for Sections 1 and 2 of the Ilorin-Omorin-Ebe-Kabba-Obajana Road in Kwara and Kogi States.

The Kabba-Obajana section is particularly strategic, handling heavy-duty traffic to and from the Dangote Cement plant in Obajana and linking Kogi to the North-Central zone.
The 27 approved projects cut across Adamawa, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Niger, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe States.
Other major approvals include N1.8 trillion for a 409km dual carriageway in Niger State under a tax credit scheme awarded to Aliko Dangote, N276 billion for the dualisation of the Ilorin-Ogbomoso Road, and N265 billion for the reconstruction of the Iseyin-Eruwa-Agbesi Road in Oyo and Kwara States.
Umahi also disclosed that 118km of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Highway, worth N137 billion, has been completed, while work on the remaining 164km is scheduled for completion by November 2026.
The Minister assured that all projects will be closely monitored to ensure quality delivery and value for money, adding that the Tinubu administration remains committed to infrastructural renewal as a driver of economic growth and national integration.
