From David Onuoja, Abuja

Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO), has announced its planned power outage in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States respectively due to a scheduled maintenance works on the 330kV Kumbotso Substation by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).

In a statement issued and signed today by the management of NISO said, the scheduled maintenance will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, 28th June 2026.

According to the statement, “the upgrade is a critical investment that would strengthen the national grid and enhance the transmission capacity of the network, thereby improving electricity supply to customers in the region and the overall resilience of Nigeria’s power system”, it said.

During the maintenance period, it added, electricity supply will be temporarily interrupted in the aforementioned three states.
