Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, has mourned the death of Hon. Wanzam Mohammad Zaki, member representing Sakwa Constituency in the Bauchi State House of Assembly.
Zaki, who was Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, died in the early hours of Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Bauchi after a brief illness.
In a statement, Governor Mohammed described the lawmaker as a dedicated public servant whose life was marked by simplicity, integrity, and commitment to his constituents.
“Throughout his service, Hon. Wanzam distinguished himself through diligence, maturity, and patriotism, particularly as Chairman of the Budget and Appropriation Committee where he contributed to policies aimed at improving lives,” the governor said.
He described Zaki’s death, as a great loss to his family, Sakwa Constituency, and Bauchi State, describing him as “a dependable legislator, bridge-builder, and humble leader” respected by colleagues and citizens.
On behalf of his family, the government, and people of Bauchi State, Mohammed extended condolences to Zaki’s family, the Katagum Emirate Council, the Bauchi State House of Assembly, and the people of Sakwa Constituency.
He urged residents to take solace in the lawmaker’s legacy of service and selflessness, and prayed that Allah forgive Zaki’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
Funeral prayer for the late lawmaker was held at Gwallaga Juma’at Mosque, Bauchi, by 1:00 p.m and has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
