A Senior Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Dr Suberu John, has declared his intention to contest the Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives in 2027, pledging inclusive development for the people.

Suberu made the declaration under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the presence of the party’s state chairman, Engineer Aliyu Momoh, and other key stakeholders.
The declaration was accompanied by a series of empowerment initiatives: 40 students received scholarships, 20 women were given financial support, and 100 individuals received cash assistance.

In addition, about 1,500 residents were given food items, including rice and garri, alongside phones for selected beneficiaries.
Speaking at the event, Suberu said his decision to contest was driven by the hardship faced by people in the constituency.

Having seen what they are going through and the opportunities being lost due to lack of proper representation, I had no choice but to answer this call, he said.
He assured constituents that he would not be a passive lawmaker if elected, promising to sponsor impactful bills that would bring development and innovation.

“I will represent you actively. I will sponsor bills that will bring development, innovation, and sustainability to our community. That is a promise I intend to keep,” he added.
Suberu outlined his priorities to include security, youth and women empowerment, education, and infrastructure, noting that he would work towards attracting federal projects in roads, water supply, electricity, and healthcare.

On insecurity, he noted that efforts were ongoing at both state and federal levels, adding that he would support all necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property in the constituency.
Highlighting his experience, Suberu said his current role as Senior Special Adviser on Road Safety reflects the confidence reposed in him by the governor, noting that he is the first to occupy the position in the state.

He explained that Kogi’s strategic position as a transit hub informed ongoing efforts in road safety awareness, enforcement, and education aimed at reducing accidents.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser on Electronic Media to the Governor and Chairman of the Organising Committee, Hon. Yusuf Ohiare, described Suberu’s declaration as a significant step towards redefining representation in Adavi/Okehi Federal Constituency.

He said the turnout at the event and the immediate impact of the empowerment initiatives reflected the aspirant’s connection with the grassroots and his readiness for higher responsibility.
Ohiare noted that Suberu’s track record in public service, particularly in road safety advocacy and community engagement, had distinguished him as a leader with both capacity and compassion.
This is not just a political declaration; it is a demonstration of commitment to the people. What we are witnessing today is a glimpse of what effective representation should look like, leadership that listens, responds, and takes action, he said.
He expressed confidence that the constituency stands to benefit from purposeful and people-oriented representation if given the mandate, adding that the journey towards 2027 would be driven by service, inclusiveness, and sustained engagement with the people.
