From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has commenced strategic security preparations aimed at ensuring a peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration across the state.

The State Commandant, Bala Bodinga, recently held a high-level meeting with Heads of Departments and commanders of tactical units to review security arrangements and roll out operational plans ahead of the festivities.

The meeting, which took place at Ade Abolurin Hall at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Ilorin, focused on strengthening the existing security framework and coordinating personnel for effective coverage during the celebration.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, the meeting brought together key officers to design a comprehensive strategy that would guarantee safety across major public locations in the state.

Speaking during the meeting, Bodinga directed Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and tactical unit heads to intensify surveillance operations and increase visibility patrols across potential flashpoints.

He listed Eid prayer grounds, markets, highways, recreational centres and other crowded locations as priority areas requiring heightened monitoring during the celebration.

“As security managers, we must ensure that our presence is felt across all strategic locations. Surveillance and visibility patrols must be intensified to deter criminal activities and ensure residents celebrate Sallah without fear,” the commandant said.

Bodinga also emphasised the need for stronger collaboration among security agencies and community stakeholders, noting that intelligence gathering would play a critical role in preventing threats during the festive period.

“We must strengthen inter-agency collaboration and maintain close engagement with community members to enhance intelligence sharing and proactively address any security concerns that may arise,” he added.

The commandant further instructed officers assigned to the operation to maintain professionalism while respecting the rights of citizens in the course of their duties.

He urged personnel to adopt a community-friendly approach while carrying out security operations throughout the celebration.

The NSCDC command also reassured residents of Kwara State of its readiness to safeguard lives, property and critical national assets, assuring that adequate security measures had been put in place to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration across the state.
