No fewer than 50 residents of Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, are currently receiving medical treatment following a deadly bandit attack on the area.

The victims, who sustained varying degrees of injuries, including gunshot wounds, were moved to hospitals in the state capital for urgent medical attention.
The Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Sadiq Umar, visited some of the survivors to assess their condition and offer words of encouragement.

Describing the attack as heartbreaking, Umar sympathised with the victims and their families, while praying for their quick recovery.
“What happened in Woro is painful and deeply disturbing. Seeing our people lying on hospital beds because of insecurity is something none of us should accept as normal,” the senator said.

He assured the victims of his continued support, noting that he would follow up on their medical care and other needs as they recover from the trauma.
Umar commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the deployment of security personnel under Operation Savannah Shield, saying the move was critical to restoring peace and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

He also praised Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for what he described as swift intervention, particularly the directive to the State Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials to those affected by the attack.
While acknowledging ongoing efforts by both federal and state authorities, the senator stressed the need for sustained and strengthened security operations across Kwara North, which he said has continued to face security challenges.

“Our people deserve to live without fear. Security presence in Kwara North must not be temporary. It has to be sustained until peace fully returns,” Umar said.
He urged residents of the district to remain united, hopeful and prayerful, while reaffirming his commitment to the safety and wellbeing of his constituents and calling for lasting peace in the region.
