• Applauds pace, quality of work at CoE (Technical), Mopa

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo, has once again cautioned traditional rulers across the state against illegal allocation of lands without government approval as well as consent of the State Council warning that, effective from January 2026, any traditional ruler found wanting would face dethronment and banishment.

He explained that the measure is to guide against indiscriminate sale of land across the state the practices which he lamented poses a serious threat to the state’s future resources.
The Governor pointed out that the fight against terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements must be a collective one and as such, traditional rulers and residents of various communities across the state should take personal responsibility of safeguarding their communities.

He further emphasised that his administration would not relent in it’s efforts and determination to decisively crushed insecurity in the state.
The governor however added that this would only be achieved with the proactive support of the relevant stakeholders.

Governor Ododo desclosed this at the Palace of the Elulu of Mopa and Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government Traditional Council, HRM Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun, during his inspection tour of completed and ongoing raod projects in Mopa/Muro Local Government Area.
He commended the traditional rulers and the people of the Mopamoru LGA for their resilience and firm resistance against criminal activities , just as appealed for their continued support for peace and togetherness in the area.

During his inspection of the road projects, Governor Ododo reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to grassroots development and security, stressing that his major focus would be to ensure that roads in the rural areas are given priority attention.
While assuring Mopamoru of more developmental projects, the governor said all internal roads across Kogi State were captured in the administration’s work plan and would be executed accordingly.

He further acknowledged that all state projects were being executed with locally sourced labour as part of efforts to ensure youths are engaged to reduce unemployment and harness local skills across the state.
During the inspection of the triple-cell box culvert under construction on the Olu Ezekiel–GRA link road in Mopa, the governor praised the Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA), for its diligence.
He noted that the project, widely applauded by residents, is a critical solution to long-standing flooding and access challenges in the area.
The governor also inspected on-going projects at the permanent site of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work.
He commended the Provost for effectively implementing the mandate to revive the institution, adding that the administration is piloting a system that will allow residents to live and settle peacefully in any part of the state.
In related development, Governor Ododo also flagged off the construction of the 10.5-kilometre Asaya–Ogidi–Ayere road in Ijumu Local Government Area.
He noted that when completed, the road would boost commerce, ease movement and strengthen social and economic interactions among communities.
Governor Ododo also used the occasion to acknowledge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the necessary resources to support infrastructural development across the country.
Earlier, the Elulu of Mopa, Oba (Dr) Muyiwa Ibeun, who spoke on behalf of the Mopamoru Traditional Council, said the local government was enjoying the dividends of democracy, with most township roads already tarred.
According to the traditional ruler, Mopamoru was one of the richest traditional councils in human resources in the state, stressing it remains the only council that can boast of a former governor, former deputy governor, former speaker, former commissioner and host of professionals, Just as he said their wealth of experience has helped in along way in enhancing the peace and unity being enjoyed in the area.
In his address, Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, who is also an indigine of the area, had thanked the governor for his continued support and highlighted the significant improvement in security within the LGA.
On his part,the Provost of the Kogi State College of Education (Technical), Mopa, Prof. Muhammed Kabir Ibrahim, disclosed that following a matching order from the governor, the institution had fully relocated from Kabba to Mopa within eight months.
He further revealed that the college has matriculated 500 NCE students, while construction of Slstaff quarters, student hostels and office buildings was ongoing.
The provost also acknowledged the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Dr. Folashade Ayoade Arike, for fully sponsoring 20 students of the institution.
In their separate speaches, the Chairman of Mopamoru, Hon. Ademola Bello, and his Ijumu counterpart, Hon. Haruna Ibrahim, had commended the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Odoodo for his efforts and commitment to providing the much needed development to the areas.
Even as they described the ongoing road projects as transformative and would go a long way in improving access to farms and markets in addition to enhancing security and enabling residents to go about their daily activities peacefull.
