In a strategic move to enhance the integrity of journalism in Jigawa State, the Jigawa State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), has constituted a Membership Revalidation Committee, following directives from the National Secretariat of the NUJ.
This initiative aligns with the national body’s vision to ensure accurate representation and registration of journalists.
A dedicated website for journalists registration has been launched by the National Secretariat, prompting all state councils to revalidate their members across various chapels.
The Membership Revalidation Committee comprises the following members: Auwal Kazaure – Chairman (NTA Chapel), Garba Yakubu – Member ( Freedom Radio Dutse, Chapel), Umar Majeri – Member (Correspondents Chapel) and Bushira Yakasai – Member (FRCN Horizon FM Dutse, Chapel).
Others are; Sani Gumel – Member (Radio Jigawa, Chapel), Alhassan Aliyu – Member ( Jigawa Television, JTV Chapel) and Muhammad Hadejia – Secretary (Information Chapel).
The establishment of the committee, aims to gather accurate data on registered journalists in Jigawa State.
According to the NUJ Jigawa Council, the committee’s mandate is to compile accurate and up-to-date data on registered journalists in the state.
The council stressed that the exercise is not aimed at targeting or victimizing any individual but is part of a nationwide effort to update membership records, including those in the Federal Capital Territory.
