Kogi state governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has approved the appointment of a retired Director from the state Ministry of Education, H.R.H, Mallam Usman Okidi, as the new Ohindase of Okengwe in Okene LGA.
This information is contained in a letter of appointment dated 16th of October 2025, and signed by the Hon. SCommissioner, ministry of local government/chieftaincy Affairs,Barr.Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat.
According to the letter of appointment, the new Ohindase, a first class status traditional ruler, is in exercise of the power conferred on the Governor by section 29 of kogi state chiefs (appointment and establishment of traditional councils) law 2006.
The letter further stated that the appointment of the new traditional ruler is based on Government’s conviction that he possesses the requisite qualities of tact, integrity, maturity, industry and patriotism to shoulder the responsibility of the office of Ohindase of Okengwe.
The letter also charged the new traditional ruler to use his office to always ensure unity, peace, security and tranquility of his domain.
Born in the year 1957, the new Ohindase holds a bachelors degree in education.
