The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, has charged graduates of the Federal University Lokoja (FUL), to embrace technology responsibly as they advance in their careers and contribute to national development.

He gave the charge on Thursday while delivering the Convocation Lecture, as part of activities marking the institution’s 9th Convocation Ceremony.

The lecture, titled “The Intersection of Law, Digital Technology and Human Resourcefulness in Transforming University Education in Nigeria,” highlighted the vital link between law, technology, and human resourcefulness as key drivers of progress in education.

Prince Fagbemi explained that the transformation of university education rests on three key pillars, law as a framework for structure and order, digital technology as a catalyst for innovation, and human resourcefulness as the unifying force that makes both effective.

He stressed that while digital innovation offers limitless opportunities, as it also demands ethical use and accountability to prevent misuse.

The Minister applauded the management of FUL for demonstrating visionary leadership through the adoption of a blended e-learning policy.

According to him, this initiative enhances the learning experience for both students and lecturers, bridging geographical barriers and aligning the university with global best practices in digital education.

Earlier in his address, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, who welcomed the Minister, expressed the university’s deep gratitude for honouring the institution.

Professor Akinwumi explained that the convocation lecture was an important academic activity that provides a platform for learning, growth, and engagement with renowned scholars to promote the transfer of knowledge.

He added that the topic of the lecture was both timely and thought-provoking, especially in an era of rapid technological advancement, as it supports the university’s vision of producing well-rounded and globally competitive graduates.
