From David Onuoja, Abuja

The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), has caution Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to conduct a credible and transparent election during the upcoming Anambra State Gubernatorial election, scheduled for November 8, 2025, saying, the election is another test for the Commission.

The Chairman of IPAC, Dr Yusuf Dantalle, made this known during the Fourth Quarterly Consultative Meeting with INEC in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said Nigerians, expect credible, transparent and inclusive elections where every vote is counted and counts in the overall result. The litmus test of the new leadership is the conduct of the November 8, 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

“The success of the off-cycle election will set the stage for the upcoming elections in 2026 including the Federal Capital Territory Area Council polls, Osun and Ekiti States gubernatorial elections and the decisive 2027 general election. INEC should put its acts together and get it right.

“With new leadership, citizens’ expectations are high, very high. The commission should justify the confidence the nation reposed in it. This is the only way to rebuild trust in the electoral process and encourage mass participation in future polls.

“As the umbrella body of all registered political parties, be assured of IPAC’s support in consolidating our democracy, ensuring an environment conducive for the conduct of successful elections, political stability and overall well-being of Nigerians.

“After 26 years of unbroken democracy, we should get it right”, he added.

Earlier, the acting Chairman of INEC, Mrs May Agbamuche-Mbu, highlited on the Electoral activities ahead of the commission saying, all is now set for Anambra and FCT election November 2025 and February 2026.

She reassured the public of the Commission’s commitment, preparedness and valor towards the free, fair and credible election in Nigeria.

According to her, “the Commission is committed to keeping strictly to the remaining activities as detailed in the Timetable and Schedule of Activities.

May Agbamuche-Mbu, called on the Political Parties to be mindful of the last day for campaigns and keep strictly to it. “Commission has been working assiduously and making arrangements for the successful conduct of the Anambra State Governorship Election and have had several engagements with the Security Agencies at National, State and Local Government levels”, she revealed.
