Armed Robbery claims two lives in Kwara

The Kwara State Police Command, has confirmed the death of two people following an armed robbery attack that occurred recently along the Rore/Arandun highway in Irepodun Local Government Area.

The incident happened around 6:30 a.m. when armed men attacked the residence of a businessman, Mr. Oyetoyan Dare. During the invasion, the assailants shot dead his security guard, Mr. Wale Ajiboye, aged 40, while he attempted to resist their entry.

In another attack linked to the same gang, a vehicle transporting farm produce from Ora in Osun State ran into the robbers on the highway. The driver, Mr. Taiye Yebi, aged 38, was shot dead, while a passenger sustained minor injuries.

Police operatives were said to have responded swiftly, recovering live and expended ammunition at the scene. The remains of the deceased have since been deposited in the morgue.

Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, ordered a discreet investigation and the reinforcement of patrols in the area.

“The Command reassures members of the public that normalcy has been restored, and the perpetrators of this heinous crime will be brought to justice,” the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated.
