Gov AbdulRazaq lauded for exemplary leadership, media inclusion

The Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has been commended for his outstanding leadership since assuming office in 2019, particularly for his commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity.

This recognition was made during a strategic seminar organized for government press secretaries, held at the conference hall of the Ministry of Communications, Ilorin.

The seminar, themed “Propagation and Documentation of Government Policies and Programmes: Renewed Roles of Press Secretaries,” was jointly hosted by the Sardauna Ilorin Legacy Platform (SILEP), and the Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Delivering the keynote address, the Senior Adviser and Counselor, Alhaji Saadu Salahu, praised Governor AbdulRazaq for appointing a significant number of journalists to key positions in his administration.

“He has made us extremely proud, being the first governor to appoint the greatest number of media practitioners into enviable positions in his administration,” Salahu stated.

Salahu also highlighted the governor’s achievements across various sectors, noting that credible local and international organisations have consistently rated him as a leader in good governance, education, health, infrastructure, youth and women inclusion, poverty alleviation, peace and security, urban renewal, and ease of doing business.

The keynote speaker urged press secretaries to embrace modern trends and professional development to excel in their roles.

“Public relations practice remains one of the most fulfilling professions relevant to all ages. However, you stand the brightest chances of career advancement by registering with the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and utilizing training, conferences, and networking opportunities,” he advised.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Special Duties, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Jiddah, called on press secretaries to intensify efforts in promoting the governor’s achievements.

Similarly, the Chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ) in Kwara State, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, acknowledged the public’s appreciation of Governor AbdulRazaq’s significant strides in all sectors.

The event drew notable dignitaries, including a member of the NIPR Governing Council, Prof. Saudat AbdulBaqi; Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Bashiru Adigun; Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Alhaji AbdulMumini Onagun; Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam) and Alhaji Ibrahim Danmaigoro; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Communications.

others are, Alhaji Yahaya Mohammed; Chairman, Kwara State NUJ, Ahmed ‘Lanre AbdulLateef; NSIP Focal Person in Kwara, Dr. Rabiat Alabere; and the Regional Editor of Leadership newspapers, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin.

The seminar concluded with a call for press secretaries to leverage the insights gained to enhance their professional impact and advance their careers.
