The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration, one of Islam’s most sacred festivals.
Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the announcement in a statement issued on Monday, congratulating Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.
He urged the faithfuls to reflect on the values of obedience, sacrifice, and unwavering faith, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
“As Muslims prepare to mark this significant festival, I encourage the Ummah to embrace the virtues of sacrifice and faith, which lie at the heart of Eid-el-Kabir,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
The minister also used the opportunity to call on all Nigerians to take the season as a moment for sober reflection and collective prayer for peace, unity, and national progress.
He reassured citizens that the reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, are targeted at rebuilding a nation that works for everyone.
“These people-focused initiatives are designed to place Nigeria firmly on the path of growth and national recovery,” he added.
Tunji-Ojo concluded by calling on all Nigerians, regardless of religion or ethnicity, to support the administration’s efforts in restoring the country’s dignity and global standing.
