The Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Aliyu Umar Yusuf, has congratulated Nigerian children, particularly the children of the state on the occasion of 2025 Children’s Day Celebration.

This is contained in a press statement,  signed and made available to the media by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Yabagi Mohammed.

The Speaker, according to the statement, described children as the future of the nation, and enjoined parents to give adequate care to their welfare.

Rt Hon Umar, noted the need for parents to take necessary steps to ensure children don’t lose their innocence, stressing that as impressionable individuals, there is the need to inculcate positive values in them early in life.

“Parents need to understand that their children are gifts nature has imposed on them and that they are responsibilities in which they cannot afford to fail.

“In the face of negative trends in today’s society, there is need for sound education and religious training that would sway the children from the social vices that have pervaded the society,” he added.

The Speaker said the State House of Assembly is prepared to come up with laws that would protect the children against all practices that endanger them and urged the people of the state to continue to support government policies and programmes at all times.

He used the opportunity to congratulate all parents in the state, particularly the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, members of the State House of Assembly and other government functionaries for creating safe and habitable environment for the children.
