Health workers in Kwara State, have commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, for approving key demands aimed at boosting healthcare delivery and improving the welfare of medical professionals across the state.
Speaking after a meeting between health sector unions and the state government, the Chairman of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN), Kwara State Council, Comrade Bolatito Isaac, expressed gratitude to the governor for approving the 2024 Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) chart, as well as the implementation of rural and teaching allowances for qualified health officers.
“This approval is a significant step forward for healthcare delivery in Kwara. We appreciate the Governor for responding to the needs of health workers and showing genuine commitment to improving the sector,” Comrade Bolatito stated.
He congratulated all health workers in the state and local governments, describing the progress as a joint victory for the entire medical community.
He also acknowledged the roles played by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Trade Union Congress (TUC), and other stakeholders in achieving the milestone.
While affirming that negotiations on other outstanding issues would continue, he urged health professionals to reciprocate the government’s gesture with renewed dedication and discipline.
“We now have a greater responsibility to live up to expectations. Let us show that when our welfare is prioritised, the people benefit through better service,” he added.
Comrade Bolatito further called on other state governments to take a cue from Kwara by prioritising the welfare of healthcare workers to strengthen the health system nationwide.
