From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, has announced the immediate revival of the long-abandoned Osun House project in Abuja.

This signaled a renewed commitment to completing inherited projects that have stagnated for over a decade.

The governor, in a statement released by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, confirmed that work would resume next month on the building located in the Central Business District of the Federal Capital Territory.

The project, originally started under former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, had been left uncompleted for over 13 years.

Adeleke disclosed that his administration had terminated the original contract responsible for the delay and has now cleared all legal and contractual obstacles that stalled progress.

“We have resolved all pending issues, and the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure has been directed to begin immediate work,” the governor said during a recent inspection of the site. “This project, left untouched for 12 years before we assumed office in 2022, needs urgent attention.”

He added that since 2023, his administration had been working behind the scenes to untangle the complications surrounding the project. “Now the path is clear. Very soon, Osun will begin to benefit from this investment,” he said.

Adeleke emphasised that his government remains focused on completing all inherited projects to ensure that public resources are not wasted and state assets are fully utilised.
