From Taiye Joseph, Ilorin

The newly inaugurated executives of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM), Kwara State branch, have rolled out a comprehensive roadmap aimed at advancing human resource practice in the state under a bold “IMPACT” agenda.

Unveiling the plan during the Institute’s Annual General Meeting held at the University of Ilorin, the new Chairperson, Mrs. Azeezat Ibrahim, said the administration’s focus would centre on innovation, inclusiveness, and professionalism.

“I am deeply humbled and honoured to serve as your Chairperson,” Ibrahim said, pledging collaboration with the national body while creating opportunities for HR professionals in Kwara to thrive.

She explained that the “IMPACT” agenda stands for Institutional Strengthening, Membership Growth & Engagement, Professional Development, Accessible Secretariat, Communication & Visibility, and Teamwork & Transformation.

Among the immediate priorities are the launch of targeted training sessions, seminars on emerging HR trends, and the establishment of a more functional CIPM secretariat for improved member engagement. “Transformation cannot happen without sound teamwork,” she noted.

Ibrahim called on members to become active stakeholders in the institute’s growth, saying, “It’s time to step off the sidelines and help build a stronger CIPM in Kwara.”

In her valedictory address, outgoing Chairperson, Mrs. Olaide Ajiboye, expressed gratitude to members for their support during her two-year tenure. She highlighted key achievements, including a visit by the CIPM National President, Mr. Segun Abdulmajeed, in 2023, and the branch’s highest conference attendance in a decade with 27 delegates.

Ajiboye also noted the induction of 20 Associate Members and the elevation of two members to Fellowship status. She paid tribute to the late Mrs. Susan Oluwole and Alhaji Abolarin Usman, and congratulated two CIPM members recently appointed as permanent secretaries in the Kwara State Civil Service.

She urged the new leadership to uphold inclusivity and strengthen partnerships that promote HR excellence.

The new Vice Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Olaniyi, said the diversity of the new executive team, with representation from both public and private sectors, would bring balance and fresh perspectives. “We have a formidable team with fresh ideas. With unity and commitment, we’ll achieve great results,” she said.

With its renewed leadership, CIPM Kwara is set to deepen its impact across both public and private sectors, driving professional development through strategic reforms and collaborative action.
