Kwara Fire Service recovers lifeless body from Asa River in Ilorin

The Kwara State Fire Service has recovered the lifeless body of an unidentified man from the Asa River in Ilorin, the state capital.

This was revealed in a statement issued by the Head of Media and Publicity of the Service, PFO Hassan Adekunle, and made available to journalists in Ilorin.

According to the statement, officials of the Kwara State Ministry of Environment, discovered the body floating on the river and promptly reported the incident at the Fire Service’s operational centre.

In response, a team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene and successfully retrieved the body, taking necessary precautions to prevent any environmental risks.

The corpse was handed over to the Ministry of Environment and is currently awaiting identification and possible claims by the deceased’s family.”

The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, while commenting on the incident, urged residents of the state to be safety conscious in their daily activities.

He also warned against sending underage children to fetch water from domestic wells, emphasising the need for greater caution to prevent similar tragedies.
