The Managing Director of The Graphic Newspaper, Mr. Yusuf Itopa, has issued a stern warning to vendors and traders operating around the office premises to maintain cleanliness or risk being forced to vacate the area.
During a routine inspection of the office environment, Mr. Itopa, expressed concern over the unhygienic conditions in some parts of the premises, largely due to the activities of traders and vendors who fail to properly dispose of their waste. He emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean and orderly environment, stressing that all vendors must take full responsibility for keeping their surroundings clean.
He further stated that a clean office environment is not only essential for the well-being of staff and visitors but also projects a positive image of the organisation.
He reminded vendors that littering and improper waste disposal create an eyesore and can contribute to health hazards, urging them to take the necessary steps to improve sanitation around their designated areas.
In addition to sanitation concerns, Mr. Itopa also addressed the issue of unauthorised occupation of spaces within the premises. He noted that some individuals had taken over certain areas without obtaining prior approval from management or following the proper procedures. Such actions, he stated, disrupt orderliness and can lead to overcrowding and safety concerns.
He warned that management would not tolerate illegal occupation and that those involved must immediately regularise their status or vacate the premises. He urged all vendors and traders to adhere strictly to the organization’s guidelines and ensure that they go through the proper channels when seeking space allocation.
Furthermore, the MD assured that strict monitoring and enforcement measures would be put in place to ensure compliance. He noted that routine checks would be conducted to ensure that vendors are maintaining cleanliness and that no unauthorized structures or activities are taking place within the premises.
Mr. Itopa reiterated the organisation’s commitment to providing a well-organised, safe, and clean working environment for its employees and visitors. He emphasised that the management would not hesitate to take decisive action against those who fail to comply with the rules.
Vendors and occupants were, therefore, advised to cooperate with management to sustain a conducive and well-maintained environment. Failure to comply, he warned, would result in strict sanctions, including eviction from the premises.
Management is expected to follow up on this directive with immediate effect, ensuring that all necessary measures are enforced to maintain orderliness and cleanliness around the office premises.
