The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Kaduna State Chapter, has vehemently condemned in a strongest terms, the unlawful and undemocratic suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan by the Nigerian Senate.
According to the statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Kaduna State Chapter, Ambassador Sanin Yaya, and made available to our correspondent, said, the Senate brazen act, constituted a flagrant assault on democratic principles, the rule of law, and the rights of the good people of Kogi Central Senatorial District, who elected Natasha to represent their interests.
According to it, “Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, has distinguished herself as a courageous advocate for transparency, social justice, and equitable governance.
“Her unwavering commitment to holding government institutions accountable and amplifying the voices of marginalized Nigerians has evidently unsettled certain forces within the political establishment.

“This suspension, shrouded in procedural irregularities and political vendetta, reeks of desperation to silence dissent and undermine the sanctity of the National Assembly as a democratic institution.
“The CNPP Kaduna views this action as a reckless abuse of power and a dangerous precedent that erodes public trust in legislative processes. The Nigerian Senate, as the custodian of democracy, must operate within the bounds of the Constitution and respect the mandate freely bestowed on elected representatives.
“We reject any attempt to weaponize legislative privilege to target critics or suppress opposition.
“We therefore, demand the immediate reversal of Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan’s suspension to restore constitutional order and her rightful place in the Senate.
“We demand Public accountability from the Senate leadership for this unconstitutional action and Commitment to due process and respect for the separation of powers, ensuring the Senate’s operations align with democratic tenets.
“The CNPP Kaduna stands in unshaken solidarity with Senator Natasha and the people of Kogi Central. We warn that failure to rescind this suspension will be met with robust legal action, civil society mobilization, and international advocacy to uphold the integrity of Nigeria’s democracy.
“Nigeria’s political landscape must not regress into an era of impunity and authoritarianism. We urge all pro-democracy forces, the media, and the international community to condemn this injustice and defend the rights of elected representatives to serve without fear of intimidation”, the statement added.
