Jukun Waanu association elects new executives

Engineer Moses Amankye has been elected as the National President General of the National Association of Jukun Waanu (NAJUWA) for the next four years.

Amankye emerged as the winner in a keenly contested election held in Abinsi, Benue State, the national headquarters of the Jukun Waan nation.

The report was signed by the Chairman of the National Electoral Committee (NAJECOM), Adahnu Joseph.

Other newly elected executive council members include: Vice Presidents Barrister Joel Awoke (VP1) and Mary Walker (VP2), Secretary General, Musa Atase, Assistant Secretary, Barrister Danjuma Anagu and Hajiya Ango Haruna as National Treasurer.

Also elected are: Financial Secretary, Musa Akando Aido, Auditors: Nuhu Gabriel (Auditor 1) and Engineer Adi Adagba (Auditor 2), Public Relations Officers: Salisu Abdullahi (PRO1) and Ayitu Affection (PRO2), Director of Socials and Culture, Ajiri Asemenya and Provost Marshals: Maggai Atoshi (Provost Marshal 1) and Silas Amina (Provost Marshal 2).

In his acceptance speech, Amankye pledged to work with the previous leadership, stakeholders, and other members to update the Waanu database, which currently has around 5.2 million people.

He also tasked the Abinsi Chairman, Siman Azyintu, to provide the data of Abinsi, and plans to visit other areas to collect data.

Earlier in his remark, the outgone President General, Barrister Dogara Aboshi, pleaded for all to put aside their differences in the course of his leadership.

He thanked his executives, BOT members and the traditional leader of Abinsi, the Abiseku of Abinsi, Chief Christopher Danjuma Apaki for their support in the last four years.

In a similar development, the Abiseku of Abinsi, Chief Christopher Apaki, at the 2024 Jukun day celebration in Abinsi, appreciated his subjects for their encouragement and love for the Waanu nation.

Their support he added, fueled his passion to serve them better. “I wish to state categorically that I am very much committed to upholding the values and principles that define out great nation, the Waanu nation.”

He conferred traditional titles to 21  individuals, including the Anyonwune of Waanu land, Mrs. Msakawa Elish. He admonished all to cultivate the habit of loving one another.
