NCSU honours HoS, celebrates Kogi’s commitment to workers’ welfare

The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), has recognised the exceptional contributions of Kogi State to workers’ welfare and industrial harmony, honouring key figures with prestigious awards during its 80th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Lokoja.

The Head of Service of Kogi State, Mr. Elijah Evinemi, FCA, was honored with the Grand Patron of NCSU Award for his unwavering support for the union’s initiatives. Represented by Mrs. Memunat Shuaibu, Permanent Secretary of Establishment, Training, and Industrial Matters.

Reacting, Mr. Evinemi applauded the union for prioritising the welfare of workers and fostering industrial peace nationwide.

He charged the NCSU to remain a beacon of professionalism and guidance, setting a standard for other unions to emulate. “This recognition is not just an honor but a call to further commitment toward ensuring better service delivery for workers,” he said.

In a major highlight of the meeting was the recognition of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo with the Best Governor in Nigeria 2024 award for his historic approval of a ₦72,500 minimum wage for workers, making Kogi State a trailblazer in public service reform.

According to Comrade Sunday Oluwole, President of NCSU, this milestone underscores Governor Ododo’s dedication to enhancing the lives of civil servants and setting new standards for governance.

The union also honored Comrade Onuh Edoka, Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour Matters, with the Architect of Modern Trade Union Award, recognizing his instrumental role in fostering a collaborative relationship between the government and labor unions.

The NEC meeting served as a platform to spotlight Kogi State’s proactive approach to labor relations and its exemplary commitment to workers’ rights, reinforcing the state’s position as a leader in public service innovation.
