Activities for this year’s Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Press Week for Kogi State council, kicked off Sunday with a thanksgiving service at the United Evangelical Church, (UEC), Lokongoma Phase I.

Members of the state council converged on UEC in appreciation of God’s grace upon the council and to seek prayers for the union.

In his charge to the body, Rev. Pastor Mathew Odoh tasked media practitioners in the country on the delivery of unblemished professional reporting of the present economic challenges confronting the nation.

The cleric said the media was playing the role of present day Moses by serving as a medium of communication between the masses and government.

In line with this, he emphasised the need to ensure the information disseminated from the masses to government and vice versa is always accurate, balanced, and helps the development of the country.

Highlight of the event was a special prayer session organised for members and the growth of the media in the state.

The members had last Friday converged on the Ministry of Education mosque for special prayers for the council.

Meanwhile, the weeklong celebration continued Monday with an awareness walk along major streets of the state capital Lokoja.
