AI-Hikmah University hosts 2nd KU8+ International Conference to boost education in Kwara

Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, recently hosted the 2nd KU8 Consortium International Conference, aimed at enhancing collaboration among universities in Kwara State.

The event, held at the Atere Campus of Al-Hikmah University, focused on advancing teaching, learning, research, service, and innovation.

Prof. Wahab Egbewole, Chairman of the KU8 Consortium and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin, highlighted the consortium’s commitment to fostering excellence in education, research, and community service.

He noted that the KU8 Consortium, which includes eight federally recognized universities in Kwara, is dedicated to driving educational development in the state.

The conference, themed “Shaping Sustainable Future: Connecting Universities Through Joint Initiatives,” aims to explore academic opportunities, showcase research breakthroughs, and promote multidisciplinary collaboration.

Prof. Egbewole emphasized the need for universities to adapt and compete globally, addressing challenges such as technological advancement and capacity building in Nigeria’s education sector.

In his address, the Minister of Education, Prof. Tahiru Mamman, represented by Amb. Chris Maiyaki, Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), commended the KU8+ initiative for its role in advancing Nigerian education.

He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to supporting educational development and ensuring Nigerian universities meet global standards.

Prof. Mamman highlighted that investing in education is crucial for securing a prosperous future and ensuring that Nigeria’s universities continue to expand while maintaining quality.
