The Kogi State Executive Council has approved the establishment of the Kogi State Electricity Regulatory Agency to generate and distribute power throughout the state.

The decision was announced by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Femi Fanwo, following a state executive council meeting.

The council also approved the engagement of Kinetic Innovation Limited as the Consultant to the Kogi State Government for the development of the state Electricity Regulatory Commission.

In addition, plans are underway for the commission to begin generating power to support industrialisation efforts within the state.

The council has also approved strategies for intelligence gathering to enhance security measures, urging citizens to report any security breaches promptly.

Furthermore, efforts are being made to reduce the cost of governance to allow for increased investment in security measures.

The council has also approved plans to expand the state’s role in minerals exploration, aligning with Federal Government policies on Solid Minerals mining and processing.

This initiative aims to capitalise on the abundant mineral deposits in the state, including Lithium, Gold, and others.

Moreover, the council has approved the establishment of the Kogi State Information Technology Development Agency, as well as the Commodity Export Promotion and Market Development Agency.

During the council meeting, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo emphasised his administration’s commitment to reducing the cost of governance to allocate resources towards extensive infrastructural development.

He also announced that Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and Ward Special Assistants (WSAs) appointed by his administration must reside permanently within their respective communities.
