The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, has said the resignation of Dr Audu Musa, from the party will not affect its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The PDP stakeholders, led by Chief Mrs Ebun Owolabi, described the resignation as regrettable, arguing that the decision appeared to be linked more to Dr Audu’s ambition to secure the party’s House of Representatives ticket than the concerns over justice, equity and fairness contained in his resignation letter.
In a statement issued by Mrs Owolabi, the stakeholders said Dr Audu had participated in the party’s nomination process and was given an opportunity to contest for the ticket, adding that his failure to emerge as the candidate should not be interpreted as evidence that he was denied a fair chance.
They urged party members to respect the outcome of internal democratic processes, stressing that political parties depend on consultation, competition, compromise and loyalty to collective decisions.

According to them, “individual political ambitions, however legitimate, should not override the collective interest of the party and the people.”
The stakeholders acknowledged Dr Audu’s right to choose his political path but said his exit was particularly regrettable because of his contributions and relationships within the party.
They, however, maintained that his resignation would neither weaken the PDP nor distract its members from preparations for the 2027 elections.
The stakeholders said the party’s attention was focused on issues affecting the people, particularly insecurity, which they said had taken the lives of productive members of communities, disrupted livelihoods and created anxiety among families.
“Our people are deeply concerned about the realities they face, particularly insecurity, which has penetrated our communities and claimed the lives of able and productive citizens. Families have been affected, livelihoods disrupted, and communities left anxious about their safety and future,” they said.
They reaffirmed the PDP’s readiness to engage the electorate on issues of security, welfare and accountable leadership, urging members and supporters not to be distracted by the resignation.
The stakeholders said the party remained united and organised ahead of the 2027 contest, expressing confidence that voters would ultimately assess political parties and candidates based on their experiences, concerns and expectations.
“Our commitment remains firmly with the people, and our focus is on building a stronger, safer and more prosperous future for our communities,” they said.
